Disney Buys Marvel For 4 Billion

mickey mouse + wolverine

It was announced today that Disney will be buying Marvel for 4 billion. It's not known yet what the possibilities of this union are but speculation is already running rampant across the internet. New movies, toys, television shows, and even new rides at Disney theme parks. These are just a few of the things that could happen from all this. I could see Disney doing a whole Marvel theme park that would be in the same vein as Six Flags. This deal won't really change everything since both the X-men and Spider-man movies are licensed to other studios. I'm sorry but there is still no hope for those movie franchises. I'm interested in seeing what happens to the comic books. Will it stay the same or are we going to see Spider-man and Donald Duck team ups? All in all, I love both companies so I can't wait to see what these two can dream up.

  1. What a mind fuck. Who saw that coming? No one, that's who.

I like the whole theme park idea for the marvel-verse. That could really work. And it would take like...zero imagination to get it right. I love my disney since I just bought a year pass same as you, but dear god the potential for them to fuck this up is infinite. Well maybe not, how badly could they run those into the ground?

Here's to going New York City Land to watch Spidey beat the shit out of pedestrians.
"My Uncle Ben didn't die so you could J-Walk!"
*cries as he suffocates people with web*

Oh, what effect does this have one Marvel Studios or whatever company is in charge of making Iron Man and Hulk movies now? Will they fuck that up Fox style? Or are their hands tied like the wolverine/spiderman movies?

  2. They will probably have no hand in making Iron Man or any of those by Marvel Studios. The deal won't go through until the end of the year and Iron Man 2 will probably already have wrapped. As for the future movies, I'm sure they will let Marvel do what they want.

Right now Paramount is the distributor for Marvel Studios and Disney won't interfere with that. Disney did say that they want to distribute the movies eventually.
