Blood of the Fold Review

Check out my other reviews on the first two books in the series.

Wizard's First Rule
Stone of Tears

This is the 3rd book in the Sword of Truth series and the worst so far. This is also the shortest, by almost 200 pages. The main fault of the the book is the enemy. No more Darken Rahl but instead we get the Blood of the Fold. The second book hypes them up as this powerful force but I can't find the difference between them and the Imperial Order. They both want to rid the world of magic and Richard. I didn't find them scary at all and Goodkind would go back and forth between them and Richard's story. That is the second fault of the book, Goodkind likes to switch the point of view from the main character to a boring minor character that will only be in one book. I really wanted to like this book but in the end I wish I hadn't read it at all. I really hope that Goodkind can go back to what made his first two books so good.

Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam Review

Zeta Gundam Logo
I was very excited to see Zeta Gundam after watching the first Mobile Suit Gundam series. I was interested to see what they do since the timeline was advancing a few years. It seems like they wanted to recreate what happened before by having a new kid pilot a gundam. I guess the same formula works but I wouldn't want to see this for every series. I didn't really like Kamina, the new main character, because he is such a pussy and not a very good leader. Kamina is pretty retarded but they really screwed up my favorite character from the first series, Char. They now have him as a good guy but with a different name. He wears sunglasses the whole time so you arent sure if it's really Char until later in the series.

Now the worst part of the show is the storyline. Its incredibly confusing and so many different things are happening that you aren't sure who the good guys are and who the bad guys are. I'm actually surprised I was able to make it through all the episodes. They are all so boring and you really don't care about any of the characters because they are way too many.

Zeta Gundam Kamina slap

The only reason why this show might be worth watching is for a drinking game. Kamina gets slapped by every character in the show multiple times. Some episodes have him getting slapped more than 5 times in one 20-minute episode. Im sure you would be able to come up with some more rules to make a pretty darn good drinking game. I would not recommend watching this show if you like to watch good anime. I recommend watch something like Evangelion if you want a good Mecha series.

Spotlight on Dustin Nguyen

Dustin Nguyen Batman ComicsDustin Nguyen is a great comic book artist who has done some amazing covers for Batman. He has also done a lot of penciling which is just as good as his covers. What I like best about Dustin is that he does a lot of art including a variety of characters. For example, my favorite cover to the right is about the Mad Hatter and Alice in Wonderland. The one below is a collage of redheads in comics. As of right now, Dustin is doing the covers and pencils for the new Streets of Gotham series. Paul Dini is the writer so go check it out for two of the best comic book professionals in the business.

Wizard of OZ #8

Wizard of OZ comicThis is the last issue of the great Wizard of Oz miniseries. The gang travels to the Witch, Glinda, so she can send Dorothy back home. They make quick stops through China country and the the Hammerheads on their way to Glinda's castle. The writer packs a lot into this issue and I wish we could have seen more of the China people. This issue was a great end to an incredible series. The best part is that the writer and artist are continuing with another miniseries called The Marvelous Land of OZ.

Lost Season 2 Review

lost tv

----------Warning Spoilers Ahead-----------

Read my review of Season 1 if you haven't watched it yet.

Season 2 of Lost focuses on the hatch that was discovered in Season 1. The first episode reveals that a man lives down in the hatch which is filled with all the normalcy of life off of the island. It's also revealed that the hatch is a station that "saves" the world.

If you thought that the cast of Lost was huge then get ready because there are survivors from the tail section of the plane. An episode actually shows what happened to the tail section survivors for the first 48 days. I thought that it was a clever way to get the audience invested in these new characters by showing how they struggled even more than the other castaways.

Another new character is Henry Gale. (I love the Wizard of Oz reference) He got to the island from a hot air balloon and got caught in a net trap. The castaways immediately think that he is lying and that he is an "Other". So they put Henry in the hatch as a prisoner until they figure out what to do with him. One of the big reveals of the season is that Henry Gale is actually Ben, who is the leader of the "Others". The other big surprise is Michael coming back to lead Jack, Kate, and Sawyer into a trap so he can get his son back.

lost others
This season was really great. It didn't lose any steam from the first season and all the new characters added a lot to the story. One problem with Lost is that they produce so many mysteries and don't get around to explaining any of them. This season adds even more secrets that will probably never be revealed but I guess that is also the fun of the show. They leave some stuff up for the audience to interpret.

My favorite part of this season has to be Michael Emerson who plays Henry Gale/Ben. He really raises the bar for the acting on the show. I still think Season 1 is my favorite but this comes close. I just loved the unraveling mystery of the hatch.
